Within the Italian institutional meteorological scenario, a key role is held by CMCC (Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change). It is a foundation made up of a collective of institutions, universities and research centres, with offices spread throughout the country, and is chaired by climatologist Prof. Antonio Navarra.
The Centre conducts research into all areas on which the climate emergency has an impact, hence from the more specialised physical/atmospheric fields, to communications, and to implications of a social and cultural nature. It is also the national focal point of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), the international body of the WMO (World Meteorological Organisation), which is part of the UN.
Radarmeteo and Hypermeteo consider it essential to have an in-depth understanding of how the country intends to address the increasingly serious climate emergency and the transition towards greater climate neutrality. In the absence of other nationwide institutional bodies, the CMCC is therefore an essential reference point.
The meeting with CMCC President Antonio Navarra provided those working in the advanced meteorology field with a clear picture of the strategy that the world of scientific research intends to pursue and the contribution it believes it can make to the country. This result is obtained by making all major scientific developments available and thus adding further value to the data available for the country, business, and society as a whole.
